San Diego State University is home to many wonderful works of art. Public art at the University encompasses a range of modes, including murals (many of which were recovered and restored), paintings, sculpture, and statuary. A few murals documented here did not survive except as photographed before the supporting building was demolished. Statuary is outside and available for all traversing the campus to see, but most of the art represented here is inside public buildings. The majority of the art is in various parts of the Malcolm A. Love Library and Library Addition. Only a few pieces are not available except on the occasion of an open house.
