Jones writes as he concludes his week of leave in England, spent primarily in London's West End. Walking the streets with pleasure he realized "what a terrific publicity organization for the capital the English novel...has been." He was able to see several plays and an operetta, but "it was the first time in [his] life that [he] ever had more choices than time or money."
