Kelly, Robert G.
"I'm intoxicated with history," Kelly writes, on the day Japan announced its surrender. He reflects on his war experiences, and what keeps "shaking my basics." He has "found I must be more cautious whom I despise," that everything has a "false front," describing a black market in which "the most important things in Germany are coffee, tobacco, tea, food & soap--in about that order" and servicemen trade government equipment for private profit.
