J. Grahdt, Esq.,
Neale House, Columbus, O.,

Dear Sir:-- I was glad to receive your favor of the 8th [unknown], for unless we hear of such matters through our guests they are not apt to reach our ears.

I find on examinations, however, that there was put in up for you, 3 leaves of bread, 1 doz. eggs, 2 boxes relishes, 1 can sweet pastry, 1 bottle olives, 1 bottle chow-chow, ham & tongue, 1 cup butter, 1 can jelly cake, pie, cream puffs, in a basket which cost us 75 cents. I can understand the danger of the eggs being bad, as fully one-half the eggs we buy are spoiled. Still, I wish to satisfy you thoroughly, and herewith enclose post office order for $2.75, basing the remittance on your opinion that $1.50 was a fair price for the lunch, and 75 cents, the cost of the basket, which I can trust will be satisfactory. We wish to do what is right in the matter.

Yours truly,
E.S. Babcock
