San Diego, Calif.,

Gentlemen:-
Have just been advised of the advance in mutton from you. I understand from this that you considered the contract entered into for six months, and with that idea have requested Mr. McIntyre to ask for bids for the ensuring year for beef, etc/, and six months for mutton, as mutton seems to be too high to contract for at the present prices for a year.
If you understand that you have a contract running for any length of time, please advise, so I will not take any steps that will be wrong.
Yours truly,

E.S. Babcock
