When Mr. Ferry commences to deliver the hogs I have purchased from him, they want to be divided, the sows sent to N.I. and shotes large enough to fatten to pig pen. There are about 20 to 25 small hogs for which we pay $1.50. The next size large: we pay $3.00 for. Think there are about 50 of those. There will probably be one doz. large sows for which I agree to pay $4.50. These had better be taken to N.I. and bred, but keep them in a separate pen from the boar that we get from Ferry: The boar we are to pay $20. for, and it should be allowed to run with our sows that are on the North Island, and the boars now there put with the sows from Ferry. I want to keep not exceeding 50 brood sows on North Island, and you can have the poorest of the lot picked out and sent over to fatten as soon as they have pigs, always keeping the brood sows down to about 50. In weighing the hogs, I think there is something allowance made for the food. What ever Hardy says is customary arrange to apply in getting the hogs from Ferry.

I enclose you letter from Mr Bettens attached to a statement of short silverware. Can you explain to me how it happens the loss is so much since the first of Nov., and also explain the cut loaf sugar bowl item.
