"Somehow," Danforth writes, "it is very cozy to follow the war by short-wave radio and to be away from the Battle of San Diego." He describes his time in Alaska as "half happy and half unhappy" and details how he spends his days. He recounts attending radio school and his former plans to go to Officer Candidate school. He discusses politics and veterans' education.
