Letter from Marceline Baldwin Jones to Stephan Jones, 1977
Enter a free text date.
This letter from Marceline Mae Baldwin Jones is to her son, Stephan Gandhi Jones. Marceline is presumably writing from San Francisco, as she mentions the march that she and fellow Peoples Temple Members (including Phyllis Houston, James "Jim" McElvane, and Sandy Bradshaw) organized after "a very bad article hit the front pages" of The San Francisco Examiner. She details her love for Stephan, remarking "I remember the time you were layed in my arms. A metaphor of a warrior with a spear in his hand flashed before me and I seemed to know that was you." She also mentions Jim Jon "Kimo" Prokes, Jim Jr., Tim Tupper (also known as Timothy Tupper Jones), Sandra Yvette "Sandy" Cobb Jones, and Ava Phenice Jones (also known as Ava Cobb). She ends the letter by mentioning the failing health of her father, Walter Baldwin, and imploring Stephan to visit her cottage at Jonestown to make sure it has not flooded.
