In this letter from Lynetta Putnam Jones, mother of Jim Jones, to her grandson, Stephan Gandhi Jones, she spends the first half of the letter ruminating on whether or not Stephan will receive the letter. She finally asks him to write her back so she will know he has. She then asks for updates on his life: "Has anyone shaved you bald yet? When did you sleep in the tree house last? How are your grades in school? Have you been chased by cows, stung by bees, or grinned at by girls?" She ends by asking Stephan to have Jim Jones forward her the mail that may have been sent to his house instead, and remarks on the snow where she lives.
