The cover of this annual is identified as "a blueprint elevation" of the new music building. To follow this theme, there is a blueprint-like drawing of an aerial view of the campus, and it is stated that 114 acres "on the mesa opposite were added to the school." The foreword also declaims that "All effort must now be bent toward victory in the present war ..." Senior Ditch Day was abandoned due to the shortage of rubber. The school prepared for war by buying stretchers and other first-aid supplies, and appointing a defense committee, and many men joined the armed services, with a page dedicated to them. There is a photograph of the Quadrangle with "Montezuma's forsaken pedestal," with the sculpture removed. A portrait of President Walter Hepner (served 1935-1952) has him poring over blueprints, with a brief description and biography. An induction to replace freshmen hazing was inaugurated on October 29.
