Editor: Ellis, Earnie
This was the 50th anniversary of the college, to which this yearbook was dedicated. The largest enrollment on record, 3,681, was swelled by 2,000 veterans. For the first time since the impact of the war and conscription, men outnumbered the women three to one. New faculty were hired to increase the former161 by 72, and quonset huts and fabricated buildings were set up to "relieve the overcrowded classrooms, library, cafe, and bookstore." Aztec Terrace was under construction to house veterans and their families. President Walter Hepner (served 1935-1952) spent the spring months in Germany on "a special advisory commission to study the curriculum, administration, and reorganization of German secondary schools." There is a cartoon of the Montezuma sculpture offering his protection to a freshman, threatened on a previous page with hazing.
