The abandoned Paramount Studios' Fort Zinderneuf set included this "desert oasis" of fake palm trees, the whole near Yuma. (The exact location is an archeological dig and may not be disclosed.) Here members of Sigma Lambda at San Diego State College and others filmed a parody of "Beau Geste." The fraternity sponsored the only three showings of the film, at San Diego State College in 1940.
