Tchicaya Missamou discusses his journey from child soldier in the Congo to life in the United States as a United States Marine. Missamou, who appears here in Marine uniform, was born in Brazzaville in Republic of Congo and recruited as a rebel soldier at the age of 13. After two years he was able to join the government forces instead, but as civil war continued he was eventually forced to flee the Congo. After coming to the United States, he joined the Marines, served in Iraq, and then returned to the Congo to try to help his father. In that attempt he was jailed himself. Released after intervention, he came back to the United States to live, founding his own business.

Gale Etschmaier, Library Dean and Anne Turhollow, Associate Dean briefly introduce Mr. Missamou.
